You don't know Spanish culture until you experience a Spanish festival and hang out until 6am in the morning.
Word.
First day in Spain was crazy. It just hit me that Jessica and I are actually in Spain now. We are still Jetlagged but everything has been amazing so far.
Jorge picked us up and after a good lunch at his parents' home in Madrid, we had a road trip to Valencia. And of course, I passed out during the 3-hr drive.
We came just in time for Fallas, a festival where they build huge cartoonish sculptures and then burn them down on their Father's Day. Needless to say, the whole city was packed with people. So many Spanish people!!!! I did learn some Spanish too. My goal is to become fluent when I leave Spain.
No but really, it would be sweet.
Jorge's friends were amazingly fun. I guess it's a general thing for Spanish people. I'm still getting used to the whole kissing thing when you first greet someone though. And boy, they know how to have fun.
The city, in general, has made me feel like home. This very peaceful feeling is rare and special. I love the old medieval corners. I love the crazy crowds dancing at night. I love the festivity that's been going on days and nights. Not to mention the people make everything 200% better.
All's good so far, Valencia. Show me more of you.
