First day in Spain was crazy. It just hit me that Jessica and I are actually in Spain now. We are still Jetlagged but everything has been amazing so far. Jorge picked us up and after a good lunch at his parents' home in Madrid, we had a road trip to Valencia. And of course, I passed out during the 3-hr drive. We came just in time for Fallas, a festival where they build huge cartoonish sculptures and then burn them down on their Father's Day. Needless to say, the whole city was packed with people. So many Spanish people!!!! I did learn some Spanish too. My goal is to become fluent when I leave Spain. No but really, it would be sweet. Jorge's friends were amazingly fun. I guess it's a general thing for Spanish people. I'm still getting used to the whole kissing thing when you first greet someone though. And boy, they know how to have fun. The city, in general, has made me feel like home. This very peaceful feeling is rare and special. I love the old medieval corners. I love the crazy crowds dancing at night. I love the festivity that's been going on days and nights. Not to mention the people make everything 200% better. All's good so far, Valencia. Show me more of you.
At the airport now and all packed (I hope). I am traveling to Spain for spring break on my very first back packing trip with my friend Jessica. It's one of those Europe trips that you see in movies, or sort of, since it's unlikely it will get all dramatic. But, it will be a great one, a great trip that I will remember forever. So what am I doing in Spain? Well, what am I not doing in Spain, is a better question. We will be traveling to Madrid, Valencia, Granada, Barcelona and Bilbao. And yes you're right we are not going to sleep. Who needs sleep anyway? I'm probably too addicted to all the things and people I see that I don't have time to sleep. Also, I don't have my laptop with me (ha leaving all the studio work back in the US!) but I will be posting my updates through this blog. In case you're wondering why I'm even having a blog, I always have a travel blog when I travel anywhere. At the end of this trip I plan to create a book and a research paper for my Honors experience too so look out for that! First stop: Madrid. See you soon in my next post! Wish me luck in finding free wifi and not getting lost abroad. I still want to come back to America. Anh |
