Anh
I used to joke that one day I will make sure my name is no longer underlined in red in Microsoft Word, because I am so proud of that name my parents gave to me when I was born. Thank you for sticking with me through 22 years in life.
Hello there, you are reading one of the weirdest About Me pages. My full name is Trần Lê Bảo Anh (shortened to Anh Tran in the first-last order). "Anh" in Vietnamese means intellectual brightness (so thank you mom and dad for blessing me with such a pretty and meaningful name). It is also not too hard for foreigners to pronounce. Well, most of the times.
I am writing this, as I have 28 more days as a Bearcat at the University of Cincinnati. I still remember my first day stepping on the soil of America four years ago, feeling in awe and jetlagged. I still remember being homesick after my dad left, and crying nonstop while trying not to wake my roommates up. I still remember feeling lonely whenever holidays came and all my friends went home with families. I also remember going to Paris with an Honors Seminar; accepting my Co-ops in Hawaii, Chicago and Boston; and traveling through Europe with just a backpack. I remember all that. I remember each and every moment clearly as if it was yesterday, because to me, those moments help me become the person I am today.
I have gone through some of the craziest years of my entire life and I am not exaggerating. I could not have asked for a better experience than this. I have done so much and grown more than I had expected. They say studying abroad can change your life. It is true: my life has been changed for the better. I found my passions and my best friends for life. I have gained work experience in firms all over the country, and traveled to more than 15 countries and 44 cities within the span of 4 years. Honors program, especially, has been a huge supporter, encouraging me to pursue my passions.
So what now?
I don't know! I am lost, confused, and going through some thinking about what I want to do for the rest of my life, and it has been taking a while. I will be taking a year off to start working first, then I will decide whether I would go back to graduate school or not. That is the plan for now. I was nervous at first, but now I am trying to stay positive about the future. Even though I still do not know what my real plan after graduation is, I am sure things will work out the way they are meant to. I am probably overly optimistic now, you might think, but that is my motto. Also, que sera, sera. Do your best and things will fall into place.
Who knows, maybe next time you will see the name Anh randomly appear in some news! (I tend to do crazy things anyway so that might actually happen)
For now, stay happy and graduate like a rockstar, seniors!
Anh
P.S. Below is a cover of Lucky I did with my good friend Josh Lehenbauer 4 years ago when I was still a baby.
